Join me for an immersive two-day workshop where we’ll explore the dynamic relationship between surface design and form in pottery. I’ll demonstrate my approach to wheel-thrown forms, sharing the techniques I use to create expressive, layered surfaces that bring each piece to life. We’ll work with a variety of methods including stamping and inlay, painting with slips, flashing, and finishing with soda glaze—showing how thoughtful surface decoration can enhance both the beauty and functionality of a pot.

Throughout the workshop, I’ll dive into my creative process, covering everything from brushwork and mark-making to glazing techniques and considerations for atmospheric firing. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how I balance spontaneity with intention in decorating, and how each step contributes to the final result.

This isn’t just a demonstration—you’ll have plenty of hands-on opportunities to experiment with surface treatments yourself. We’ll do simple exercises designed to build confidence, encourage playful mark-making, and help you develop a more intuitive and personal approach to decorating your work. Whether you’re looking to deepen your surface skills or find new inspiration, this workshop offers space to explore and grow your own voice in clay.
